My Response to Flash and Standards+Sympathy for the Devil+Adapt Changes as a designer

Flash and Standards reading was very interesting. I notice now that flash really is the tool that provides the platform for content. With technology changing, many companies in the world are going to change due to the war about the flash or adobe or apple. John nack is correct where he stated that “people want a certain “killer” narrative. People want more, graphics, functions for their sites via internet. Times are changing where now everyone is looking for the next big thing. I hate to use a lot of quotes but this one really caught my eye:

We don’t have a single “Flash developer” at Big Spaceship. In fact, we grimace at titles like that.… <–is everyone playing the one-up game or playing it safe.

People are fed up with flash it seems to me. It also seems that there is a large margin of who want change, and there is a large amount of people who do not want to change. maybe flash is has to join forces with apple? It seems the only way, maybe 2 head companies need to put their brains together to make the perfect new system for developers.  The platform has to be simple but plain for people to be able to use any technology for developers to create magic with. Until then, the playing cards are still in the hands of the future developers in this case. I think the future will hold easier platforms to make sites using flash.

Sympathy for the devil was alright, I thought. I mean, tell us what we don’t already know. of course no one like flash we all know that, but please tell u how we can change it for the better. Why was John looking at flash is not this or that, I mean if it wasn’t for flash, we would not be able to create most of the websites we know and love today. I do agree with “competition makes everyone better.” Macromedia showed us that u can have multiple functions when it comes to idea. Im still wondering why apple and microsoft at that time has not. I know many people that use both products, and I still ear people complaining about the functions from both companies. On another note why is Flash better with mac than PC. Is it to keep the top gun happy? Im still trying to find that out. In plan words yes Flash has it flaws but look at what it has done for us..

I will be able to adapt to the change of technology no matter what is available because I have the will to win. Its in my heart. If a future employer need me to make something in Flash or a future tech.  I would be able to do it or would want to do it the best way that I can. Research is also the key to any answer. Knowing what your up against, knowing your competition and what they use, and how they are thinking in their weekly boardroom meetings. i believe it will also take a certain amount of creativity and discipline, both are key to success. There are a lot of great designers in this world, but only a certain few know their flaws and can accept it.  I know what I can do and I stay determined to know what I don’t. So  in my mind, they key to being able to adapt tot he changes in my career as a designer is staying ahead of the game..

Response to Web Design is 95% Typography

I can truly say 95% Typography was great read.  Informing the reader that a web designer must be disciplined designing the site. Breaking down typography to a science in my book. The information designers was another key I thought. “”Replace print with online”  which bring it back to  how the texture as well as the structure has to be right. I never really thought about these choice of fonts make a big difference in our modern but futuristic world.

Treating text as a interface, Khoi Vinh every word you could see clear, she used the black and white on the dog phoo which really grabbed my attention. Another classic way of the writer showing proof with a visualization.  A decent link to add in the story which shows me that it can be done. Keeping text clear and crisp.

The addition of success with websites I see now can be a big factor on how people break down their own thought on which is a successful font and set-up. I have noticed the increase of  Twitpic.com or which you can upload your pictures into Twitter. Would Twitpic.com exist is Twitter didn’t exist. Maybe Not.

Resources are treasure in my opinion. I happen to notice “A List Apart”  in the Top 5, “Thinking with Type” #7  on the list. Not Bad. What a great reading. I will even post it again at the bottom this response, a reader must endure the luxury of  taking it to 100% in the next three years.
